Scott Becker: President & CEO

Scott Becker has more than 24 years of experience in the semiconductor industry. He holds more than 30 semiconductor related patents and serves on 4 technical advisory boards. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Sidense Corporation, a Canadian company that was founded on the one-time programmable (OTP) memory IP space.

Scott spent 13 years as co-founder, Chief Technology Officer, and board member of Artisan Components, a semiconductor IP company that was acquired by ARM Holdings, Incorporated in December, 2004 for approximately $1 billion. Prior to founding Artisan Components, Scott joined Mentor Graphics as Circuit Design Manager, through its acquisition of Silicon Compilers Systems Corporation. He also held various circuit design engineer positions at Silicon Compilers Systems and Signetics Corporations. Scott has a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Santa Clara University and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.

 

Dhrumil Gandhi: Chief Operating Officer

Dhrumil has more then 26 years of experience developing memories, standard cells, I/O cells, and EDA tools. He holds more than 7 semiconductor related patents. He served as Vice President of Technical Business Development at ARM Holdings, Incorporated. Prior to Arm Holdings acquisition of Artisan Components, Dhrumil was Senior Vice President of Product Technology. He has also served as Vice President of Engineering at Artisan Components.

Prior to Artisan Components, Dhrumil was Senior Manager for Advanced ASIC Design Systems for Mentor Graphics. He joined Mentor Graphics as Senior Manager of Library Group, which was a result of an acquisition of Silicon Compilers Systems Corporation. He also held various management and technical positions at Silicon Compilers Systems and Intel Corporation. Dhrumil has a M.S. in Electrical Engineering at California Institute of Technology and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology.

 

Peter Calverley : Chief Financial Officer

Peter has more than 25 years of business finance and operations experience in technology companies. In his CFO role at Tela, he is responsible for business and financial management of the company including fund raising, corporate financial reporting and accounting, human resources, IT and customer contract negotiations.

For the past 10 years he has focused on financial management for pre-IPO and early-stage companies, most recently running his own private consulting practice and previously serving as COO for FamilyPass, Inc.

Before joining FamilyPass, Peter was CFO of CoWare, Inc. He was instrumental in leading several rounds of equity financing from a combination of venture capital and corporate sources, in securing low cost venture debt lines, leading the negotiation and integration of two significant acquisitions and taking a significant role in negotiating several multi-year customer agreements.

Earlier in his career, Peter held executive business finance positions with several larger technology companies including Cadence Design Systems, UB Networks (originally Ungermann-Bass), ROLM Systems and Nortel. He holds an MBA in Finance from St. Marys College of California and a BA in Commerce/Social Science from McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada.

 

Neal Carney: VP of Marketing

Neal has more then 25 years of experience in the semiconductor industry most recently as vice president of marketing for ARM and Artisan Components (acquired by ARM in 2004). He has held senior marketing and business unit management positions at Agilent Technologies and Hewlett Packard in the Semiconductor Products Group and ASIC division. Internationally, Neal spent three years in Japan establishing and managing the marketing and distribution center for HP's Semiconductor Products Group and represented HP in the Japan Chapter of the Semiconductor Industry Association.

Neal received his B.S. degree in Physics and his M.B.A from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

 
Neal Carney

Mike Smayling: Senior Vice President, Product Technology

Mike Smayling is an industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience. At Tela he responsible for technology development and integration.

Prior to joining Tela, he was the CTO of the Maydan Technology Center at Applied Materials where he developed advanced processes for sub-45nm technology nodes. Before moving to Silicon Valley with Applied, he was a TI Fellow at Texas Instruments responsible for DRAM, Flash, and mixed-signal technology development and productization. He holds over 80 U.S. patents, and has more than 50 publications/presentations covering DFM, MOS devices, processes, Flash memory, LDMOS transistors, photolithography, and lasers. He was a lecturer at Rice University for over 10 years while at TI.

He received a BS degree from the University of Minnesota, and MS and PhD degrees from Rice University, all in electrical engineering. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, and represented TI and Applied at SRC.

 

Mike McAweeney: Vice President of World Wide Sales

Mike is a 22 year veteran of high-technology, spending 19 years focused in semiconductors. Prior to joining Tela, Mike was Vice President of DFM and Digital Implementation marketing at Cadence Design Systems. Over a period of 15 years, Mike has held other positions at Cadence including Vice President of industry alliances, Director of Analog/Mixed-Signal Business Development, Consulting Executive and Direct Sales. Additionally, Mike has held technical, sales and business development roles at a Simplex Solutions and LSI Logic. Mike holds a BSEE from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
